Magnolia Market

We were slow to rise this morning.  Last night’s news warned of snow and ice, so we hibernated like a couple of old grizzly bears until mid morning. And of course, old man weather delivered! Jer spent a half an hour scraping ice and warming up the engine before we were ready to depart, but not before we ate a lucious breakfast served by the hotel.

So around 10:30 we again headed south, and believe me, we never once doubted our decision to delay our start.  Ice frosted the highways and several cars lined the roadways due to accidents.  We experienced ice all the way to Dallas/Fort Worth.  It was reported that this was the first snow Dallas/Fort Worth had received in the last three years.  No wonder people didn't know how to drive!  However, I remained calm and never questioned the skill of my ice trucker Jerry.  We just took our time and avoided as many ice spots as possible.

So around 3:30 we arrived in Waco, Texas, the city nationally known as the home of Chip and Joanna Gaines and the Magnolia Market. Ever since the introduction of "The Fixer Upper" on television, Waco, Texas has become the retail shopping mecca for many American women.

Since I had visited Waco twice before, Jer foolishly asked me if I wanted to stop.  Wanted to stop?  Of course I wanted to stop!  You can't go thru Waco, Texas without stopping!  Besides it was a beautiful 60 degrees and I had a serious penchant for shopping!

So much to our surprise, Jer found a parking spot within two blocks of the silos.  I grabbed my purse and marched towards the silos, with a skip in my step and a smile on my face.  A gal’s gotta do what a gal’s gotta do, right?

About an hour later, I returned with the results of my retail therapy, and I was so thrilled when all my purchases fit perfectly in the back left hand corner of the Equinox.  Waco was a success!  Jer got a few minutes of rest and I got to go shopping!

So I get back in the car and south again we go. It was around 6 p.m. when we pulled into the Quality Suites in Temple, Texas.  Ok, I’ll admit it- stopping in Temple was not in the plan but the official map reader (alias me) missed Hwy 51. Sorry! East, west, north and south are pretty much a blur to me after more than 6 hours on the road. I guess it's time to accept new technology.  Siri- how could I foresake thee!

So we pulled into a Quality Suites even though we're a mere 20 miles off the planned route.  But who cares?  Things could be worse!  Besides,  the pizza we had delivered to the hotel, was well worth those few extra miles!
