Things That Remind me of Dad...

Well, Father's Day is once again upon us, and oh how the memories flow! Obviously, there's no amount of time that can erase those special memories of our awesome dads, and my dad is no exception!. No siree! While my dad was one you might certainly call "unique", the fact is, I think that's probably the reason I loved him even more! So cheers to our dads! No matter how "unique"! My hope is that this also spurs some wonderful memories of your own father, as I remember mine. Here goes: Things that Remind me of my Dad... * Wild Country cologne * Men's leather ankle boots, a Stetson cowboy hat, and a big 'ol belt buckle. * That rusty old two-toned brown Ford pickup truck that never went over 25 mph and sported the famous "Don't mess with Texas" sticker on the back. *Dancing with mom in the kitchen while supper cooked on the stove. *Polkas, Waltzes, Two-steps... Master of none but he didn't care! (and how I once stood on his feet, to follow his steps) *"I'll Waltz Across Texas with You in My Arms"... *Buckhorn, Old Milwaukee, Falstaff, Olympia, Schlitz, Old Style, PBR ... whatever was on sale. *A waistline so skinny you could wrap one arm around him. *Sardines - oh my lord - sardines! *Cream puffs. He would make them while mom was at work. *Wet weather, an old cow, and a flat rock... (only a few of you will get that one!) *Noon time naps - and ya darn well better be quiet (my one and only spanking!) *Christmas morning in the recliner ... in his long johns (need I mention he partied the night before with his brothers?) *"Glad ya got to see me!" *Playng "fun/go" in the backyard. He'd have "fun" hitting the ball and us kids would get to "go" get it! *And last but not least - LAUGHTER - oh yes laughter and so many, many fun times!! Too many to mention! LOVE YA BUNCHES DAD and MISS YA LIKE CRAZY! HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO YOU AND ALL THOSE OTHER UNIQUE DADS!!
