Things That Go Bump in the Night (or Day)

Have you ever noticed how your senses seem to be on high alert whenever you're staying away from home?  It's weird, but on vacation, I always seem to be jabbing Jer in the middle of the night, asking, "what's that?"  I don't know what you call it, but I've heard some people refer to those freaky noises as "things that go bump in the night".

Well, the older I get, I've come to the realization that "things that go bump in the night", seem to be happening less and less. Those night bumps must be happening after 9 p.m..  I'm generally an early to bed person, so I'm more likely to hear things that go bump in the "day".  So bear with me as I share my latest "bump in the day" story.

Shortly after Jer and I arrived here in Corpus, we started to notice this weird repetitive moan every morning.  It seemed to happen like clockwork - at the same time every single morning.

"Hmmmm---moan......Hmmmm---moan----Hmmm---moan"!  Every morning around the exact same time!  It peeked both our interests and we both would ask the same questions.  "Where's that coming from?  What is it?"  However, after about five minutes, it would stop - just like that - every single day.

So it didn't take long before we started to wonder if this rhythmic noise could be coming from the adjoining condo.  "Hmmm----moan!  Hmmm---moan!"  Oh my goodness!  What could it be?  Is it what I think it is?  No way!  Every morning?  Come on!  It can't be!  Maybe once in awhile but not everyday!"

So about our fourth morning here, we finally figured it out!  Yep!  It does happen every morning!  Yep!  It is about the same time every day!  And yep!  It does have a rhythmic, moaning sound!

So what could it be??  Well, my friends, after careful evaluation, we finally figured it out.  It was our coffee pot!

Lord!  Remind me to go to church on Sunday!
